Sowohl das Samsung Galaxy S7 als auch das größere Gerät S7 edge mit gebogenem Display verfügen über die Schutzklasse IP68. Samsung bewirbt die beiden Handys lapidar damit, dass sie wasserdicht seien. Doch was genau bedeutet das? Und wie lange und tief dürfen die Smartphones untergetaucht werden?
- Mit IP wird ein internationaler Standard bezeichnet, die Abkürzung steht dabei für International Protection Marking.
- Während die erste Ziffer für den Schutz gegen Fremdkörper steht und mit der 6 eine komplette Staubdichtheit bezeichnet wird, gibt die zweite Ziffer eine Information über die tatsächliche Wasserresistenz.
- IPx8 bedeutet, dass ein technisches Gerät gegen dauerndes Untertauchen geschützt ist.
- Das bedeutet aber nun nicht, dass ihr mit dem S7 im nächsten Urlaub beim Tauchen die schönsten Unterwasserbilder machen könnt, denn dieser Schutz bzw. das Zertifikat kommt mit einigen Einschränkungen. (Seht dazu den nächsten Abschnitt.)
Wasserdichtigkeit nach Standard IP68
Je höher die Zahlen der Schutzklasse IP sind, desto besser ist der Schutz gegen das Eindringen von Fremdkörpern bzw. Flüssigkeit. Während mit Schutzklasse IPx7 ein zeitweiliges Eintauchen in Wasser kein Problem darstellt, ist mit IPx8 sogar das dauerhafte Untertauchen in einer Tiefe von über einem Meter und einem Zeitraum von mindestens 30 Minuten kein Problem.
- Bis in welche Tiefe und wie lange genau das Gerät untergetaucht sein darf, legt der Hersteller jeweils selbst fest.
- Beim Galaxy S7 waren die Testbedingungen folgende: 30 Minuten in einer Tiefe von 1,5 Metern.
- Samsung empfiehlt, das Gerät nicht tiefer oder länger im Wasser verweilen zu lassen.
Allgemein kann man zur Wasserdichtigkeit des S7 sagen, dass es nicht generell dazu gedacht ist, mit ins Wasser genommen zu werden. Vielmehr soll die Zertifizierung Schutz vor Unfällen oder eine Benutzung unter der Dusche ermöglichen – nicht mehr, aber auch nicht weniger.
